Martín Chirino (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, 1925 - Madrid, 2019)

Biography: Considered one of the most outstanding Spanish sculptors in recent decades. Member of the group "El Paso", together with Saura, Canogar, Feito, Millares, Ayllón, Juana Francés, Serrano, Suárez, and Rivera. He received the National Award for Plastic Arts in 1980, and the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts in 1985, both awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. From 1982 to 1992 he was President of the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Circle of Fine Arts) in Madrid.
