Miguel Fusté Alcalá
BIOGRAPHY
Just as 1 meter is 100 centimeters and 2 + 2 = 4, the works of Miguel Fusté Alcalá focus on the mathematical concept of Geometry studying the exaltation of spaces — valuing the properties, particular shapes, and measurements of the created figures. The ideas behind his work come from a deep fixation on our environment, not taking anything for granted, and making an effort to enhance his ability to really see things. Taken together with the primary objective of transferring that willpower to see to the spectator and forming a visual experience favoring the simple mechanisms of straight lines, form, and color, without the need to relate or allude to symbolism and/or subjects in order to give his works meaning. The affinity that Miguel feels for multidisciplinary artists such as Max Bill, Antón Stankowski, Jorge de Oteiza, and others such as Carmen Herrera Barnett Newmann and Elsworth Kelly, together with his visual experience, allow him to carve out his own terrain where he is able to combine forms and spaces which he can call his own.
